New Hope Baptist Church, nestled in the rolling hills of Upshur County has been a part of the Big Sandy community for 170 years. Our long-standing history is a definitive testimony to our Lord and His faithfulness. He is the One who graciously allowed us, through the generations, to be a ‘player’ in His will and plan. No, we are not a perfect people, but we are a people who are and are being transformed by a loving and perfect God. His love has enabled us to know and experience being a spiritual family as well as a conduit of His life and love to our community and world.

We believe that the door to salvation is always open and so are the doors to our church. Our mission is to be fully devoted to Jesus by opening our arms to those in search of the truth. We show God’s love and concern for our fellow man at every opportunity. Through works of charity and opening our doors to listen and love, we feel that we are walking in the footsteps of Jesus Christ.
